Chapter 22 No Wonder She Lost

Madison texted back. "Alright, then. Let's schedule it in advance. When you do have time, don't forget our date. I'll be waiting for you." Madison felt a twinge of disappointment, yet she still managed to slip in a bold confession. As he read her message, Sam's heart clenched painfully. Going on a date with Madison had been a dream he'd longed for, yet one he'd never dared to pursue. Could he really do it? Or would she ditch him halfway through like before? He stared at his phone, gaze deep and unfocused as a sense of disbelief crept over him. On Madison's side, she waited, feeling a little let down when he didn't reply. But she quickly pushed the feeling aside, remembering all the times she had abandoned Sam for Johnny in the past. She let it go. Madison texted, "I'm going to keep shopping now. That way, I'll look beautiful when we go on our date." With that message sent, Madison put her phone away. When he saw the text, Sam exhaled, feeling part relieved, part unsettled. He
