Chapter 22
ELORA'S POV
Rain had been pouring non-stop since morning—a soft, relentless drizzle that had escalated into a downpour. I leaned over the desk with my eyelids swollen, my fingers aching from all the typing and editing I'd done, sketching countless designs did nothing to ease the throbbing ache I felt on my fingertips. I barely even pay mind to the rain anymore. Manhattan was known to be extra during winters.
My phone beeped next to the coffee mug that sat untouched for hours now.
I glanced at the screen to see who'd distract me like this during work hours.
Selene. I picked the call immediately and left it on speaker.
“Elora,” she spoke so weakly and hoarsely that I could barely hear her. “I don't mean to disturb you but I'm not doing very well. Can you pick up some pills and come over to my place, please?”
I was already reaching for my purse. “Of course. I'd be there soon. Just try to eat something before I get there, okay?”
“Okay, El. Please hurry.”
The rain was still pouring down so
