Chapter 34
ELORA’S POV
I should’ve gone home.
That was the first thought that came into my mind as I pulled into the long driveway of the Weston's mansion. My entire body ached. The tension in my shoulders had settled in like a burden that I carried, and my eyes burned from staring at the screen all day. Work had been a storm of demands. Deadlines I had to meet, decisions I had to make…it's just a lot.
I almost drove straight to the house. Almost.
If it hadn't been for Grandma Mirella’s fifth text that says; “You better be here by the time I'm done with dinner, Elora.” and Nora’s guilt-tripping voice messages, I'd probably be in deep sleep on my cozy bed by now. But I knew them well enough to know they wouldn't stop until I showed my face. Family expectations had claws, and they never really let go.
The mansion looked the same. Cold, quiet and bigger than necessary. I sighed and tucked my keys into my purse, brushing down my skirt as I stepped out of the car.
