ELORA'S POV
I sat on the edge of the bed with my phone pressed to my ear, praying that Selene would be less busy enough to come pick me up. Thankfully, she answered on the second ring.
“Selene, can you come pick me up?” My voice sounded too hopeful when I asked. “I'II send you the address.”
But her apologetic sigh was answer enough.
“I'm sorry, Elora. I just resumed work now and I can't leave. I promise I'II make it up to you, okay?”
I sighed. “It's fine,” I murmured, even though it wasn't.
As soon as the call ended, I dialed the only other person I could think of, Lucas. My hands trembled a little because I knew he might be busy right now. But then he answered, “Elora, what's up?”
“I…” my throat felt tight, but I forced it out.
“Are you free to pick me up? I'm not with my car right now.”
“Alright. Send me the address.” He said without hesitation.
Relief washed over me like air after drowning.
“Thanks, Lucas.” I whispered quickly before hanging up and sending the location.
