"Rent?" Klaus repeated, his eyebrows arching in surprise as if the question was completely unexpected.
Georgina nodded anxiously, nervously biting her lower lip and twisting her fingers. Klaus studied her for a moment, finding her obvious discomfort rather amusing. His wolf, Alex, rumbled with interest inside him, unusually attentive to this human's every reaction.
"How much do you offer to give me?" he asked, his steel-gray eyes glinting with mischief.
"Umm..."
Georgina did a quick mental calculation. She had a job, sure, but it had never been about the money. She'd only taken it to occupy her time, using her salary for expensive café visits that barely lasted a week. Now those once-insignificant pennies had suddenly become critically important.
She was too embarrassed to tell Klaus how little she could actually afford. An apartment like this in SoHo would cost at least six thousand dollars per month,more than double her salary. Plus, she'd need money for groceries and other necessiti
