From that day on, Giselle moved into the ward to stay with Donovan, keeping him company day and night.
Most of the chores were handled by the caregivers, so she had little to do herself. Occasionally, she would wipe him down, feed him meals and medicine, or wheel him outside to sit in the sun.
With his emotions steadier, Donovan's recovery quickened. Within a week, he could already sit up on his own, though walking was still some time away.
Even so, he refused to be idle. He buried himself in his phone and laptop, reviewing documents, holding video conferences with executives, never letting himself rest.
That afternoon, after a round of online gaming left her tired, Giselle called out, "Hey, do you want me to take you outside for some air?"
