Victor slammed the door so hard it shook the walls as he stormed out.
Marielle was completely taken aback.
Was this guy really an assistant?
What a temper!
Rowan, startled by the noise, rushed out and visibly relaxed when he saw Marielle unharmed.
"What happened?" he asked, concerned.
Marielle shrugged. "Your assistant has quite the attitude."
"I'll talk to him tomorrow," Rowan said calmly, then returned to the kitchen.
When the food reappeared, it looked much better than the first attempt.
Marielle noticed clusters of red blisters from oil burns on Rowan's hand and forearm—ugly and painful-looking.
She knew this was likely his first time cooking, but she acted as if she saw nothing, took a bite, and made no comment.
Seeing Marielle offer no reaction, Rowan finally sat down and took a few bites. But his face suddenly paled, and cold sweat beaded on his forehead.
"Mr. Blackwood, is your stomach acting up again?"
