Chapter 22
Kaelos's POV
That night, I sat in the back corner of a fancy bar with Mark, sipping a glass of aged whiskey while discussing the increasingly tense situation with the Crimson Moon Pack. The dim lighting and hushed whispers of the patrons created the perfect atmosphere for our sensitive conversation.
“No suspicious movements yet,” Mark reported, his voice barely audible. “But our intelligence indicates they're planning something. The question is when and where they'll strike.”
I stirred the amber liquid in my glass, considering our options. “What about border patrols?”
“Doubled, as you requested. But Kaelos...” Mark leaned forward, his expression serious. “I still think sending Callista for training now might be too soon. She could be useful here.”
“She could also be a target,” I replied bluntly. “My sister's safety is non-negotiable.”
Mark nodded, understanding the firmness in my voice. We both knew that family always came first. The Crimson Moon gang wouldn't hesitate to use her again
