Seraphina's POV
The morning of the hunt broke with a crimson sky.
Blackthorne stirred before sunrise. Armored warriors marched through the courtyard, fastening leathers and sharpening blades. Seers traced wards into the earth, whispering old prayers to guide us through what lay ahead. Fires were lit not for warmth, but to remind us that we still carried light into the dark.
I stood atop the northern wall, looking out toward the horizon. Somewhere out there, the Order waited—hidden behind veils of shadow, preparing to complete the unbinding. I didn’t know what we would find, but I knew what we carried with us.
Unity. Vengeance. Hope.
Kaelos joined me silently, adjusting the black and silver armor that bore the sigil of his line.
"Scouts reported movement near the Hollow’s Edge," he said. "A caravan. Covered. Protected by runes."
"Could be a decoy," I said.
"Or the real thing."
I nodded once. "We go either way."
By midday, the first strike force departed.
