As I gazed at her peaceful face, an irresistible urge overcame me—I reached out, tracing my fingers lightly over her cheek.
She belonged to me, and soon, the whole world would know it.
Silently, I slipped out of bed, taking my phone with me as I made my way out of the room. Closing the door softly behind me, I dialed a familiar number.
The call barely rang twice before a gruff voice answered.
"Lucian."
"I'm getting engaged," I stated firmly.
A heavy silence stretched on the other end.
"What nonsense are you spewing in the middle of the night?" my grandfather demanded, irritation evident in his tone.
My posture stiffened, my grip on the phone tightening. "It's not nonsense. I've made my decision, and I expect you to respect it."
"Respect it?" He scoffed. "You think you can just decide something like this without my approval? You are my successor, Lucian. You don't have the luxury of making reckless choices."
