"Does our plan to meet each other's parents during winter break still stand?" Isaac asked.
"Yes," Cassidy replied casually.
"Pick a date then."
She pressed her lips together. "The fifth day of the break."
Isaac smiled. "Good. It's a promise. I'll prepare a proper gift and make sure your mom agrees to entrust you to me."
Cassidy's lips curved slightly. "Okay."
She thought, "Isaac, how do you manage to say these things without laughing? Lie to me if you want, but don't lie to yourself too."
The moment she turned around, the smile disappeared, and her eyes turned cold.
Isaac watched Cassidy's retreating figure, and an unexplainable sense of unease rose in his chest.
He didn't know why, but something about her felt different now. She didn't seem to like him as much as before. Did she really get tired of him?
The thought made his heart pound.
She told him a few days ago that Kate was sick, yet he never went to visit her.
