After Eira left, Alexander stood outside Margaret's hospital room. He took a deep breath before pushing the door open.
He walked over to his grandmother's bedside and called softly, "Grandma."
Margaret gave him a look and was silent for a moment before speaking gently, "Alex... do you really not have feelings for Eira?"
Alexander froze briefly, then quickly replied, "Never did."
Hearing that, Margaret let out a small sigh, like she was finally letting go of something. "From now on, you can marry whoever you want, but just remember-Sophia will never be the woman of the Brooks family."
It wasn't exactly fair to Sophia, but Alexander knew his grandma had already compromised. He hesitated for a second, then nodded. "Got it."
Neither of them noticed that the door hadn't fully closed. A cold, resentful gaze peeked in from outside-
Sophia, fists clenched, stood seething in the hallway, replaying Margaret's words over and over. Her eyes were filled with spite. "That old witch..."
