Simon's POV
Jack's warriors came for my blood.
It wasn't an ordinary battle—it was a coordinated assault aimed directly at my wounds. Every movement was designed to cripple me, to finish what they had started.
I fought back with everything I had, but my body betrayed me. The sharp pain in my side slowed me down, my muscles sluggish from exhaustion. And Jack's men knew it.
I barely dodged a blade aimed at my ribs when Charlie suddenly lunged between me and the attack.
The silver dagger plunged into his shoulder instead.
A choked gasp escaped him as blood spilled from the wound. His body wavered, his knees buckling.

"Get him to the hospital!" I snarled at my men, barely keeping the panic from my voice.
A warrior hesitated. "But, Alpha—their medical system—"
"I don't care!" I roared. "Take him. Now."
