Shawn chuckled as he raised his glass. "How's James' drinking tolerance? He'll need it for all the business dinners in the future. Might as well start practicing now."
Oliver glanced at James and praised, "He's got a solid tolerance. I've tested it myself—he's even managed to outdrink me a couple of times."
James laughed, keeping it light. "I'm younger. Uncle Oliver, your liver's already been through years of damage."
As he spoke, he glanced at Abigail, who still had her head lowered. The unease in his eyes deepened.
Peter, watching his grandson step up in the family, felt reassured. "James, learn everything you can from Oliver. Once he gets old, you can overwork him the same way he's overworked me."
Just as James was about to respond, a soft voice cut through the lively atmosphere, mumbling, "James doesn't like this job."
Everyone at the table fell silent.
