Peter was puzzled.
"Is Oliver that easy-going? You just apologized, and he simply let you go?"
James couldn't wrap his head around this too.
"Didn't Uncle Oliver give you any other punishment?"
Grace replied, "He apologized to me. Why would he need to punish me?"
"What? He apologized to you?" Peter exclaimed excitedly.

"Yes, he accused me wrongly of eating popsicles behind his back at school. I asked him to apologize. He did, but I haven't forgiven him, so I stormed out."

James understood Grace's personality better. She was simple-minded, so she probably couldn't grasp the whole situation.
