No way I’m moving back in with him—what, just to be Ronald’s doormat again? He knew damn well I wasn’t gonna do that. Throwing me out of the car was just his way of pushing me.
I wasn’t having it. I got out without a second thought.
Ronald’s face turned pitch black, didn’t even glance back before slamming the car door.
“Drive.”
Michael hesitated. “Mr. Wright, this is a villa district—it’s hard to catch a ride here. How’s Madam going to get home?”
Ronald let out a cold laugh. “She’ll figure it out. Drive.”
The car sped off, leaving me standing there like an idiot.
I turned around to look at the big fancy house. Full of people I couldn’t stand. No way was I going back there to beg for a car. I opened a ride-hailing app—no drivers.
Fantastic.
I could feel my heart sink. Deep down I’d suspected it—this ritzy neighborhood, everyone’s got their own fleet, no drivers around. I sighed and started walking toward the gate. My chest felt tight with frustration.
