I quickly sidestepped to avoid bumping into him.
Out of the corner of my eye, I caught a glimpse of someone wearing a flashy floral shirt. Before I could even see his face clearly, he was already calling out with a cheeky grin, “Hey, Isabella!”
I looked up abruptly. There he was—with that mischievous smirk on his face, sunglasses hanging off his collar, good-looking to a fault, with rosy lips and fair skin.
“Nicholas.”
Nicholas chuckled and stepped in closer, giving me a once-over with those deep brown eyes of his.
“What a coincidence, huh, running into you at the hospital like this.”
Sure, great. Just my luck.
The moment I saw him, I was reminded of how awkward that job interview had gone.
I kept a blank face, not in the mood for small talk. “Yeah, pretty random,” I replied flatly and turned to leave.
“Hold on, why’re you in such a rush?” Nicholas caught up, his annoying grin not fading a bit. “Isabella, what’re you doing here? You sick? Why didn’t you bring Ronald along?”
