Chapter 119: A Long-Lost Feeling
Just as I was debating whether to sneak out, the bedroom door creaked open. My heart jumped into my throat.
Arthur stepped out. He wore a loose white robe, his hair slightly mussed across his forehead, giving him that effortless, just-out-of-bed look that made my pulse spike.
His eyes flickered with surprise when they landed on me sitting on the couch. Then, without a word, he turned toward the kitchen.
He grabbed a bottle of water from the fridge and twisted the cap, taking a slow drink before glancing my way.
"What are you doing up in the middle of the night? Trying to haunt the place like a ghost?"
His voice was deep, edged with that lazy roughness of someone who had just woken up.
"Haunt the place? Seriously? Do I look like a ghost to you? A gorgeous one, maybe."
In the dead of night, this man had the nerve to call me a ghost. Could he be any worse at talking to people?
