Chapter 26: Lying is a Man's Nature
"Miss Cole, what are you doing here?"
Justin's tone was forced, his gaze shifting like he was trying to look anywhere but at me. That was all the confirmation I needed.
"I heard your phone call just now."
I didn't sugarcoat anything. I wasn't about to play games. From the moment I caught that look in his eyes, I'd already written him off. This guy was no good.
Justin's face changed instantly. His eyes flicked with guilt.
"Uh, Miss Cole, I..."
He started to stammer, probably searching for an excuse, but I cut him off before he could finish.
"Justin, let's talk over there." I gestured toward the far end of the hallway by the window. "Too many people walking by here. You don't want anyone overhearing, right?"
Justin hesitated, but then followed me like a kid who got caught cheating on a test. He knew he couldn't talk his way out of this.
"You were on the phone with another woman," I said. "And that wasn't some casual conversation. I'm not wrong, am I?"
