Chapter 66: Arthur's Call
"I'm here. Come down!"
The second the call connected, Arthur's voice came through sharp and curt.
And just like that, the line went dead.
I stared at my phone, frowning. What was wrong with this man? Arthur Sandlin never gave anyone a chance to speak. One call, one sentence, and that was it.
This guy was seriously infuriating.
I tossed the phone onto the bed and flopped down beside it, determined not to go. Let him wait downstairs. He was the one who hung up before I could say anything.
But my resolve never lasted long when it came to Arthur.
Five minutes later, I was pacing the floor, chewing my lip. Arthur wasn't someone who liked to wait. If I didn't show up soon, he might leave. Or worse, come up.
"Serena Cole, you have no spine," I muttered to myself, staring at my reflection in the mirror. "You can't even hold your ground for five minutes."
I grabbed my bag and headed out anyway.
