She was sitting on his lap as he wrapped both arms tightly around her, resting his head against her arm, taking in her scent like his life depended on it.
Maria Lewis’s face turned bright red. She glanced around nervously, first at the room, then at the kitchen, panicking that someone might walk out any second.
“There are people in the house! Let go of me,” she whispered, pulling at his hands, flustered.
