The shards exploded just next to Nathaniel' cheek, slicing across his skin like a warning shot.
That moment of blood snapped him out of his drunken daze real quick.
He tried—really tried—to keep it together, locking eyes with Julian, whose bloodshot gaze was full-on murder mode.
