Victor glanced at Natalie Lane, who'd suddenly broken down in front of them, frowning as he spoke.
Natalie looked up, met his eyes, and choked out, "Everything I said is true. He promised me… if I took the blame for everything, he'd let me go."
"Julian, you mentioned just now—my little brother's about to start college here in Lichester. I can't let him find out about any of this."
Victor instinctively shot a glance at Julian, raising a brow slightly.
There was clearly more going on here than she'd said. The tension in her voice and the pain on her face gave it away.
Natalie's hands were clenched tight, doing her best to keep it together. Her voice trembled as she said, "I didn't follow Nathaniel willingly. He forced me."
