Nathaniel's face darkened instantly, fury bubbling just beneath the surface.
Evelyn shifted her attention to Amelia. "You're claiming I set this whole thing up? Cool. Show me the proof, then."
Her gaze was icy, sharp enough to cut. Amelia found herself frozen, scalp tingling from pressure.
Still, Amelia pressed forward. "If you didn't plan this, how come you just 'happened' to be in the room next door?"
"Seriously, Evelyn? We're supposed to believe that's just a coincidence?" She clung to that explanation like it could still win her some ground.
After all, they'd all seen Evelyn walking out from next door. Way too convenient.
She was fully convinced Evelyn being there wasn't just bad luck—it was premeditated.
