Chapter 70 Provocation
Back at her apartment building, Rosalie and Julian walked side by side into the elevator. When the elevator dinged at her floor, Rosalie stepped out first but paused at the doorway and looked back at him.
"By the way, don't forget. You're coming with me to meet my mother tomorrow afternoon," she reminded him.
Julian looked at her, his gaze deep and unreadable. "Okay."
Rosalie pressed her lips together. The almost-spoken "good night" lingered on her lips, but she swallowed it back.
Lucian had once told her that the letters in "good night" were a hidden shorthand for "I love you". Each time she said it to him, it was a confession—one she only ever said to him.
In the end, she let the words go and simply said, "Get some rest."
Just as she finished speaking, Julian suddenly murmured from inside the elevator, "Good night."
Rosalie froze for a moment and looked up. Julian's expression remained unchanged, clearly unaware of the meaning behind his words.
