Dorothy’s recovery was proving to be more complicated than I’d hoped. I had a feeling deep down that if Dorothy herself were involved, her condition might improve.
“Alright,” I muttered, my voice tinged with discouragement. “I understand. But how is Dorothy doing? Aldrich said I shouldn’t see her, but I need to know how her recovery is progressing.”
“Everything is normal,” Master Hayley said reassuringly.
“Too normal,” Kevin interjected, adjusting his gold-rimmed glasses thoughtfully. “So normal, in fact, that it’s unsettling. From a logical standpoint, the recovery shouldn’t be this smooth. If it is, it could mean there’s an unseen issue lurking beneath the surface—something more dangerous than a visible rejection.”
Master Hayley shot Kevin a warning look, as if to tell him not to worry me unnecessarily, but I was already on edge.
