The reason behind Kaya’s transfer was straightforward, so simple, in fact, that I didn’t need anyone to explain it to me. Kaya was a capable officer, no doubt about that. She had a fiery temper, but her abilities were undeniable, and she was more than qualified to step into a position of greater responsibility. It was her time to shine, to contribute to the elven race in a more significant way. I had no doubts that she would thrive in her new role.
As for Klein’s transfer, his new role as my temporary partner was just as simple, albeit less impressive. He was, in a word, a "flower vase," someone who appeared to have little substance behind his position. The soldiers under him, if they could even be called that, treated him with disdain. It was no surprise; Klein didn’t even have a permanent soldier under his command. To put it bluntly, my new partner was a commander without command—a mere officer in title alone.
