My whole body froze instantly. Even my seatmate—who had been about to grab her beer and chug it—stopped mid-motion.
A warm breath brushed against my ear.
“Tell me,” a familiar voice murmured, “is this a new restaurant I haven’t heard of?”
A hollow laugh slipped past my lips as I turned my head toward him. Even though I couldn’t see, his tone alone—paired with the oppressive pull of his aura—told me everything.
He was angry.
With a very strong desire to stay alive, I shook my head. “I… it’s a bar.”
“And what,” he asked softly, so softly it made my spine tingle, “are my little wolf and my sister doing in a bar?”
I shivered.
That was when Kathleen, already tipsy, slammed the bottom of her glass against the table with a sharp clink.
“Obviously, we’re here to drink,” she snapped, irritation lacing her voice. “What else would people do in a bar? Besides, I’m the only one drinking. Your little wolf didn’t.”
I almost hiccupped when Lucien leaned closer—so close that the table shifted
