Scarlett's POV
"Scarlett."
The voice pulled me back from my restless dreams. My lashes fluttered, and when my vision cleared, the first thing I saw was Lucien sitting on the edge of the bed. I glanced at the ceiling and knew this wasn't my room at all, but rather Lucien's.
It seemed that since then, I never really went back to my own room to sleep.
I glanced at Lucien. His eyes were bloodshot, exhaustion carved into the lines of his face.
"Did I pass out yesterday?" I asked, noticing the rasp in my voice.
Lucien took the glass of water he had prepared and handed it to me. I accepted it and drank as if I had been thirsty for so long.
"What happened yesterday?" I asked him again.
"You passed out right after we talked. I carried you back to our room and called the physician. He said your ribs and bones had been broken." His tone was low, sharp with unspent fury. "Damn it. I should have tortured them a little longer."
