My heart throbbed violently with pain. I picked up a glass and hurled it at him. "Herbert! You know how important that painting is to me!"
The glass left a bleeding gash on his forehead. His face darkened and he yelled, "You've lost your mind!"
I let out a bitter laugh, eyes full of tears, grabbing my phone in a fury. "I'm going to let the whole world know that Vivian is nothing but a plagiarist!"
Herbert panicked and snatched the phone from my hands, then smashed it with a loud crack. "Why are you so vicious? Vivi's only in her twenties. Do you really want to destroy her future?"
Watching him defend Vivian so vehemently, I completely broke down and sobbed.
Herbert, flustered, tried to console me. "You're getting old already. Wouldn't it be nice to just be a stay-at-home wife? Vivi is still young. She needs this award more than you. Besides, without her, your painting might not have gotten this much attention anyway."
