Chapter 7
I spent the next six months in Swinton. I lived in a small town and spent my days reading, taking nice walks, and learning how to make different desserts.
I didn't contact anyone, nor did I check any news from Chrovia. The only messages I received were from Xenia, who would send me messages every day.
"Another client turned me down today! I'm so mad!"
"The new assistant is so dumb. He makes the worst coffee ever."
"I have a boyfriend now! He's an artist. I'll bring him to meet you one day!"
I read them all. I rarely replied, but I read them all carefully. It was enough for me to know that she was living happily.
Near the end of fall, it began to snow in the town I was living in. I was reading in front of the fire when my landlady knocked and entered. She passed a letter to me.
"Ms. Sherman, this is a letter for you. It's from Chrovia."
I froze. When I took the letter from her, I could see Anderson's name written on the front of the envelope as the sender's name.
