Chapter 1727 Conditions

Everyone was taken aback by Margot's reaction. Margot took out her bag. "Since you want to go through it, go ahead." Lance suddenly felt a sense of uncertainty due to her calm demeanor. He knew something was going on. However, he only shared the plan with Barbara. No one else could have known about it. Margot couldn't have foreseen it. Lance composed himself and glanced at the bodyguards, who immediately moved forward to take Margot's bag. However, Margot swiftly pulled back her hand and looked at Lance with a weird smile. "Lance, what will you do if I'm proven innocent?" Lance scoffed. How was that possible? He was certain the ring was in her bag. She was in deep trouble! "I will apologize to you, Ms. Zimmerman," Lance coldly replied. Margot's smile gradually faded. "But a mere apology won't suffice. I insist that you publicly admit your mistake, acknowledge that you baselessly accused me, and declare yourself a blind fool. "My reputation has been tarnished, and being unjustly accused while far from home is undeniably distressing for a young woman, wouldn't you agree?" Lance's face fell when he heard her. "Don't push your luck!" Margot turned to the crowd. "Are my terms too much to ask for? I just wanted a sincere apology. How is that going too far?" "That's right. He was so sure she was a thief. Yet he doesn't want to agree to her terms. How unsightly of him." "Tsk …" The crowd began to whisper among themselves again. Lance's darkened gaze swept the crowd. He was sure the ring was in her bag. There was no doubt about that! "Fine, I agree." Lance sneered. Margot looked to the crowd. "You've all heard it. Please be my witnesses when the time comes." People were amused by her reaction. Benjamin observed her with a patient smile, knowing that she must have a hidden card up her sleeve from the cunning glint in her eyes. He stood by and watched the spectacle. Margot handed her bag to the bodyguard. The bodyguard took out everything from the bag. The bag was small and couldn't hold much. When everything was taken out, it contained only lipstick, wet tissues, a diamond hairpin, and a phone. Lance's expression turned grim. The bodyguard searched carefully and suddenly exclaimed, "I found it!" He held a diamond ring in his hand. It was a sizable diamond, approximately ten carats, and the size of a pigeon's egg. It sparkled brilliantly under the light. The bodyguard respectfully placed the ring in Lance's hand. The latter looked at Margot with a cold smile. "Now, what do you have to say?" All eyes were on Margot. She had just appeased the crowd and claimed that Lance had falsely accused her. She even proposed conditions and demanded an apology if Lance couldn't find the ring. Yet she was quick to eat her own words. People who had spoken up for her earlier now were pissed, regretting their support. Lance looked at Benjamin. "Your woman is untrustworthy. I think you should break up to avoid embarrassment!" Benjamin remained unfazed as if he hadn't heard the taunt, and his gaze remained on Margot. Lance felt like his words had fallen on deaf ears and deflated a little. He immediately ordered, "Call the police and have this untrustworthy woman arrested." "Yes." The bodyguard promptly took out his phone. Just then, Margot suddenly exclaimed, "Oh!"
