Chapter 2158
Caught off guard by the sudden influx of a water dragon, Goravoth was stunned. Then, it immediately began to actively swallow it.
The phoenix-powered fire lightning had been too much for it to stomach, but a mere water dragon was nothing.
Shannon noticed its complacency and didn't flinch. She looked up slightly as her fingers weaved through complex mudras. In the next second, a golden light ignited from the tail of the water dragon.
That golden light began to spread inch by inch until it covered the entire beast.
By the time Goravoth realized what was happening, the water dragon glowing with golden light was already deep inside its belly.
Shannon stared at it.
One second… Two seconds…
Goravoth suddenly gagged, and an explosive surge of water burst from its mouth. It carried thousands of soldiers and flooded the entire camp like a sudden deluge.
Water spilled across the ground, bodies floating everywhere like remnants after a disaster.
Shannon had no time to check who might still be alive. Once she confirmed that Benjamin's golden light had indeed affected Goravoth, she immediately prepared to replicate the attack and force it to release even more people.
But after suffering twice, Goravoth would not give her a third chance.
What it thought was just a powerful mystic master now revealed herself to be something far more dangerous. Her divine soul was a rare delicacy, and her spiritual energy held powers that seemed to restrain it.
Without hesitation, it released a surge of black fog, which instantly engulfed its massive body. In the blink of an eye, it vanished.
Shannon narrowed her eyes and dared not relax. She didn't believe a beast like it would appear only to retreat.
As she kept her guard raised, Goravoth did reappear behind her. Its massive jaws loomed over and nearly swallowed half of her body.
A cold shiver ran down Shannon's spine. Her fingers flashed through a final mudra and activated a spell. Along with that, a mystic chain appeared in her hand.
With a sharp tug, the chain yanked Scarsore, trapped in its cage within the tent, to swap places with her in an instant.
Staring at the gaping mouth coming straight for it, even Scarsore couldn't help but scream in terror, "Spare me! I'm Scarsore! It's me!"
Goravoth paused briefly before it devoured Scarsore without hesitation. Scarsore or not, it didn't matter. It would eat everything!
Scarsore's eyes flashed with fury. As its survival instincts flared, it released its ominous energy and struggled to fight back against the pull of Goravoth's insatiable hunger.
With that, a battle between the two ancient beasts commenced.
In the tent, Shannon had bought some time after using her array to switch places and have Scarsore hold Goravoth down.
Though she'd managed to win in the last two strikes, she knew better than to underestimate an ancient mystical beast. Goravoth had been scorched and pitted by fire lightning, but not weakened, and that was proof of the beast's vicious resilience.
If she wanted to survive, she would have to fight like there was no tomorrow.
After making adjustments to the array in the tent, Shannon did not hesitate to slash her palm open. Blood rolled onto the array below.
As mystic light flared, she stood at the center, fingers forming a mudra as she solemnly chanted.
"By the nine heavens' might and supreme of the southern pole; by eternity of the primal flames and celestial might, through the fortresses of the northern lands and across realms of sea and earth…
"By the sun and moon and heaven's spark, to gates of the underworld… the unheed shall break, and spirits shall burn…"
As blood poured steadily into the array, her face paled visibly, but her hands never faltered. Then, a roar tore through the camp.
The canvas above her head was suddenly ripped away, and Scarsore's battered body crashed to the ground beside her feet.
Without flinching, Shannon formed the final mudra and commanded, "Swiftly, as the law decrees!"
Her voice rang clear. The array beneath her feet lit up with a blinding golden light, and the black fog around Goravoth seemed to radiate five beams of mystic light.
The astral pentarchy stood within each beam of mystic light.
They surrounded Goravoth in the middle. One stomped down and cracked the earth beneath Goravoth's feet, threatening to pull it into a chasm.
Goravoth leapt to dodge, only to find a massive wielded ax hack downward with deadly force.
