Without hesitation, Suzanne picked up her pencil and began sketching with full concentration. Once she got into the flow, she became completely absorbed in her work, unaware of everything else around her. She didn't even notice when night fell.
Her desk lamp was always on, so she never relied on natural light. Plus, the ceiling lights were available whenever she needed them.
Without warning, the room's ceiling lights suddenly flicked on. Caught off guard by the brightness, Suzanne shut her eyes.
Austin stepped into the room. "What are you up to? You shouldn't work in the dark. It's bad for your eyes," he whispered.
Even though Suzanne didn't have vision problems, he couldn't help but worry.
As her eyes adjusted to the light, Suzanne set her pencil down. A smile played on her lips as she looked up at him. "You're back!"
She laid the sketchboard aside and slipped her arms around his waist. Leaning against him for support, she slowly rose to her feet.
