Leona's POV
Nina stood nearby, watching me with a worried look. I gave her a faint smile as if to say there was nothing I could do.
Since I'd already offended Martin, I might as well get something out of it. I believed he didn't have the authority to fire me. All I had to do was make it through the next month. Besides, I had my reasons for deliberately provoking him.
I lowered my head before Nina could notice the flicker of calculation in my eyes. I didn't want her to see that side of me, not after she'd tried to help me more times than I could count. If I were destined to be the villain, then at least I wanted her last memory of me to be a good one.
"Okay. Fine. I'll take you to the staff quarters. Just open the damn door!" Martin barked.
I let him go, and he practically crawled out. He doubled over and dry heaved the second he was free.
"You… You…" he sputtered.
"You still want to stay there?" I asked.
