Broderick Ackerley acted like he didn’t notice the hint of disappointment in Leslie Green’s eyes. Instead, he tightened his grip on her hand and led her into a Western-style restaurant.
The place was beautiful, quiet—and completely empty except for the two of them.
Leslie turned to look at him, curiosity written all over her face. Broderick still held her hand as they walked in. Clearly, he’d booked out the whole place just for them.
Her smile brightened. Yep, this felt a lot like a real date.
Shopping, dinner, and after that—probably a movie.
A man in a tailcoat stood to the side, playing the violin, the soft music floating in the air.
The elegant dishes were served one after another, all delicately plated.
Leslie wasn’t the type to dwell on things too long. Sure, the surprise ring moment had come and gone, but she still had something up her sleeve for Broderick.
Plus, she was starving. During the meal, they barely talked.
Broderick, calm as ever, cut up her steak without a word.
