Broderick Ackerley wasn’t a talker, but every little thing he did was filled with gentleness.
He carefully wiped down the gravestones until not a speck of dirt was left.
Leslie Green bowed slightly and respectfully said, "Dad, Mom."
"Hey Broderick, mind giving me a moment alone with our parents?" she asked softly.
The way she said “our parents” totally warmed Broderick’s heart.
He leaned in, gave her a quick kiss on the cheek, and grinned.
“No ratting me out to them,” he joked, unusually lighthearted.
Leslie chuckled, her cute little nose scrunching slightly, her smile full of warmth.
After Broderick stepped away, Leslie sat in front of the tombstones and stared at the photo of the couple.
She had only met them once, and they even took a photo together back then.
To her, it had been a brief encounter—nothing more.
Yet somehow, because of that short meeting, plus Margaret Ackerley’s teasing comment about wanting Broderick to marry her someday, fate had its own plans.
