Chapter 97
Heidi had always been like that. She had a short fuse, but it never lasted long enough. Maverick believed that she would calm down if he left her alone for a bit.
He tucked her in before going out.
As the door clicked shut, Heidi lifted the covers and sat up.
Maverick's morning runs were just like clockwork. He would get in a three-mile warm-up before going on a pace run for another three miles. Throwing in his stretches and the time needed to get breakfast, Heidi figured that he would only be back after an hour and a half.
That would be more than enough time.
Heidi didn't have to pack up anything in particular.
Maverick was the one who had packed most of their luggage on this trip, including her flowery dresses, bikinis, and sun hats.
She only took her credentials and a few small items.
By the time she had stuffed her things into her carry-on suitcase, barely five minutes had passed.
Heidi stood in the center of the living room as she glanced around the place.
