Chapter 9 Feelings
Gideon and I walked side by side. Neither of us said anything.
I didn't know why he was suddenly in the mood to take me to a bar, a night market, and on a riverside stroll. Regardless of whether or not he was just using me as a stand-in for Sierra, I had to admit that this improvisation had put me in a much better mood.
Besides, he'd handled Dad's situation perfectly. I was grateful, but my feelings for him seemed to be growing, too.
What was I going to do? I'd be dead meat if I continued like this.
As my mind wandered, I didn't notice someone run past me. They bumped into me. I lost my balance and staggered forward.
I heard Gideon tell me to be careful as he pulled me into his arms. I looked up to meet his gaze, and my heart skipped a beat.
We stared into each other's eyes for what felt like a century, and my heart raced. He slowly leaned in. His lips were about to meet mine when his phone suddenly rang. I saw that the call was from Sierra.
The amorosity instantly disappeared,
