Julian’s gaze darkened just a little, lingering a beat longer than usual on Claire’s obviously forced smile.
After a pause, he waved dismissively, “You can go now.”
Claire and Michael turned to leave. Just as they were about to reach the door, Julian added lazily, “We’re working late tonight. Michael, order dinner. Claire, bring your laptop to my office later.”
