In the end, Leticia declined.
The noise in the room was overwhelming. After a couple of drinks, Leticia felt the need to go out and get some fresh air.
She slipped out quietly and stood by the hallway, absentmindedly scrolling through her phone. Her mind was occupied by the lab report that was due the next day.
Then, she noticed someone standing beside her.
"Leticia." Samuel's voice was low and resonant. "Are you not feeling well?"
"I'm fine. What are you doing here?" she replied, a bit surprised.
Samuel was a popular guy. With a simple beckoning of his hand, he could get himself a girlfriend in no time. Leticia was curious why he'd come to this kind of social gathering that was aimed at securing a date.
"It's too noisy. I prefer quieter places," Samuel answered.
Well, that was something they had in common.
With a little alcohol loosening her up, Leticia dropped her guard and could speak more freely. "Then why did you come? Are you looking for a girlfriend?"
