Elena’s POV
Pain throbbed in my cheek from the slap, but I forced myself to stand tall. The chaos was finally behind me, yet Tito’s parents were approaching fast, faces twisted in anger.
“Mrs Brown!” Helena shouted, stepping between us. “This is enough! You cannot attack someone in front of children. Stop right now!”
Tito’s mother didn’t budge. “Step aside, Principal. My son almost died! One hit from me isn’t enough. I should’ve done worse!”
Her husband stepped forward, fists clenched. “And don’t forget, I'm a son of a council member in Silver Crest Pack. I have authority here. One word and this woman will answer for what happened today!”
I didn’t flinch. My voice stayed calm, even though my chest was pounding. “Authority doesn’t make you right. This kindergarten needed protection, and I did my job. Kids got saved because I acted, not because of titles, not because of threats.”
