Elena’s POV
Screams filled the air as I fell. My top caught on a metal railing, jerking me mid-drop and stopping me from crashing all the way down. Still, I hit the floor hard. A sharp, burning pain tore through my leg as my ankle bent the wrong way. I cried out, clutching at the ground.
Before I could even process what had happened, Philip was beside me. He dropped to his knees and carefully gathered me into his arms.
“Are you alright?” he asked urgently with a worried expression.
I was shaking, my breath uneven. “I don’t know. My ankle hurts so bad…I think I twisted my ankle.”
He raised an eyebrow slightly. “From a fall like that?” he said lightly. “I’m surprised it's not worse.”
“I’m not sure it's not,” I groaned, biting back another cry.
Mark rushed over then, his face drained of color. He crouched and reached toward my foot. “Damn it… are you okay?”
Philip immediately knocked his hand away. “Did you try to kill her?” Philip asked, his voice suddenly sharp. Everything froze.
