I returned to my office after everything had finally settled down. The hospital corridors were quieter now, but my mind wasn’t. Too much had happened in a single day — the rooftop, Olivia’s tears, the way her grandmother had trembled at the edge of the hospital roof.
I was just glad I had arrived in time.
I trusted Dr. Watson completely. He had handled countless thoracic surgeries before, and cases like this were well within his expertise.
Still, something inside my chest refused to settle — something that had been restless ever since I found out Olivia’s real identity. I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was missing something.
I leaned back in my chair and closed my eyes for a moment, trying to steady my thoughts.
