I knew Nelly meant no harm; she was simply stating what she had noticed, but we both felt the awkwardness between us.
It never occurred to me that I might resemble Victoria. We were so different. Victoria possessed an exquisite beauty, paired with an air of arrogance that seemed to stem from her wealthy and powerful family background. In contrast, I was plain and simple, with nothing remarkable about my appearance.
Victoria smiled elegantly and said, “I also feel a strong connection with Olivia.”
Of course, I knew she was just being polite, not wanting to offend anyone. I also noticed that she became much nicer to us after learning that my daughter was Aiden’s classmate.
