"Irene, you're just the help around here. Do you think you get to say no when my dad tells you to do something? What, you really believe being chummy with Nancy suddenly makes you important?" Wendy sneered, loosening the leash.
The black dog bared its teeth and lunged at Irene, barking viciously. Irene shrank back into the corner, trembling in fear.

Emma looked uneasy. "That dog won't kill her, will it?"
"She won't die," Wendy said flatly. "But she'll be covered in bites. Once she starts begging for mercy, we'll open the door."
Emma nodded. "That little tramp's gotten bold, quitting her job like that!"
