Chapter 120
As he finished speaking, Patrick turned his head and snapped at the disgruntled Julia beside him. "Where's Lucas? Why isn't he back yet? What kind of mother are you?"
Julia, after all, was his daughter-in-law. Let alone her—even William wouldn't dare defy Patrick. Everyone had to listen to him.
Being barked at like that, Julia felt humiliated. She lowered her head and muttered, "I'll call Lucas right now."
With that, Julia headed out of the living room.
Watching her back, Patrick said, displeased, "Can't do things properly herself, yet she's quick to point out others' faults."
Teresa sat quietly. When Patrick's anger subsided, she stood up and said, "Patrick, I'll go make you your favourite pasta."
Every year on his birthday, Teresa would cook a whole table of dishes for Patrick. But this year, she hadn't.
Every year, only Patrick felt for her, telling her not to cook—that a woman shouldn't be in the kitchen too much or else her skin would suffer, and she'd look sallow and thin.
