Chapter 36
The assistant swallowed nervously and finally decided to make the call to Desmond.
"Mr. Marson, Mrs. Bennett doesn't look too well."
"What happened?" Desmond stood by the balcony, his eyes narrowing slightly as he gazed out at the bay in the distance.
The assistant hesitated but chose to be honest. "She ran into one of Nora's friends at the hospital entrance while I was taking her home."
"And then?"
"She looked... not right after that." He didn't dare mention that Isabella had actually gotten hit.
"A month's salary docked," came the flat, emotionless reply.
Only after the busy tone sounded did the assistant realize the call was cut. He looked up at the sky, defeated. What else could he do? He was just as helpless.
He let out a long sigh and drove off to deal with the mess left behind.
Not long after the assistant left, Isabella also headed out.
When Desmond returned to the villa and found it empty, he tried calling her, but she didn't answer.
Just then, heavy rain started pouring down
