In the end, Anna just couldn't say no to Julian. Under that deep, unreadable stare of his, all her resistance crumbled—not a single word of protest came out.
She headed back to the dorm, dragging her feet and spirits, packing her stuff like she was walking right into the lion's den.
If someone's gotta go to hell, guess it's me.
"Anna, are you really moving out?"
"Yeah... I took a part-time job. The place is kinda far, so I don't really have a choice," she muttered, folding her clothes and tossing a flimsy excuse at her roommates.
Even though she'd mentally rehearsed the lie a dozen times, she still felt a bit guilty saying it to girls she'd lived with for years.
Luckily, no one pushed for more. One of the girls just nodded and looked at the empty bed nearby. "What a coincidence. Sophia's not around today and now you're leaving."
Anna gave a half-hearted smile and nodded along, pretending to agree.
