Chapter 1206: Another Wrong Move
The water in the prison cell tilted and surged upward, rising to Callie’s neck.
She struggled but to no avail. Closing her eyes, she prepared for drowning.
Irene twisted the valve shut. "If you won’t talk, I’ll keep it going. You’ll really die this time."
Callie, however, remained unnervingly calm. "If I die, you’ll die too."
"Still defiant even on the brink of death? I doubt you’ll live to see me die."
Irene reopened the valve, but a bodyguard stepped forward and stopped her. He shook his head. "You can’t drown her again. She can’t die yet—Mr. Cross still has use for her."
"Use? She’s just a woman. Step aside!"
"Miss Paul, I cannot allow it!"
"You—!"
As the two argued above, Callie’s exhaustion peaked. Her legs weakened, barely holding her up. At last, she spoke.
"Marilyn—"
Hearing her voice, Irene turned slightly, waiting for more.
"I’m guessing Jaquan promised you a lifetime together, even told you you’d be his only wife."
